Schools

Over past 5 years we have had several meetings with schools in Ennerdale and surrounding areas. School principals has been reluctant to participate or flatly refused to work with us to develop the game. Working in schools will form the foundation of the club. As long as this is not in place we will fail to make a meaningful impact. We need to catch the future rugby players from as low down as the foundation phase of schools.

Once this program is working each of the schools will be given a page on the website at a reasonable fee to display their successes as well as communicate any info from the schools to our members and the community.

The following schools participated in our development clinics in 2011::

  • Odin Park Primary
  • St George Primary
  • Poseidon Primary
  • Spectrum Primary
  • Laura Vecuna (Finetown now part of the Cathlic School situated in the Industrial precinct)
  • Mid Ennerdale Primary
Once we have every one in these schools participating with teachers, principals, learners and and their parents we would have a vibrant program that will be second to none. The Gauteng Department Of Education have the programs that wants to ensure that there is school sports. There is also the necessary funds to assist schools. The key is, schools have to take advantage of it.
Ennerdale Rugby Football Club started this and this year we would have to strengthen the relationship we have with the schools. The key is that we extend this into the High Schools as some of the learners will be in there this year. We sincerely hope that these schools will wake up to the fact that if they do not participte then our work will come to naught.
Since the last update of this page the information was negative and indicated that the participation was not what we hoped for. However, we would like to thank the schools for their prticipation: Particularly the above mentioned schools.
