Welcome
Founded in on 21 March 2006, Ennerdale Rugby Football Club is an official member of the Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU). We are also a registered as a community based sports organisation with the Department of Social Development. Our registration number is 055/975.

The organization currently has approximately 100 registered players/members and is responsible for the development of the boys, girls, primary and secondary schools and club rugby programs in the community of Ennerdale and surrounding areas and ultimately all development matters and competitions in the area.

Our core focus is rugby the development thereof, as well as the development of the youth in Ennerdale and surrounding areas. Therefore, we wish to see people in the area develop as citizens and we use rugby as the vehicle to achieve our objectives.

The current structure of Ennerdale Rugby Football Club comprises a 1st team, 2nd Team 3rd Team and a U20 team. We also encourage the community, schools and crèche's to participate and hope to capture the players from an early age. We believe that champions are made from ages 6 and 7 rather than 16. We hope to make rugby the preferred sports in our communities.

Ennerdale Rugby Football Club is the proud winners of the 2008 Inaugural winners of the Ingonyama League, the development league of the GLRU. We won the title with our 1st team and the Under19 team and successfully defended this title in 2009 in the U19 category and narrowly lost in the semi-finals with our 1st team. We are also proud to say that our members were instrumental in the formation and the running of this league. In 2010 we decided to move up to a higher league with the view that the club will grow since the requirements to compete higher up are much more stringent and challenging.

The Club is situated in the most south-western part of the City of Johannesburg's Region G. Ennerdale Rugby Football Club's headquarters is located in Ennerdale is run on a voluntary basis by an interim committee until such time that we are able to run the club with the services of a fulltime staff compliment. It is run under the direction of current Chairman Ranleigh Delport.

Ennerdale Rugby Football Club is based upon these core organizational beliefs:

  • We believe that rugby is the best experience in South African sports.
  • We believe that rugby is the ideal medium to encourage sportsmanship for our members.
  • We believe rugby has something for everyone and that anyone can play.
  • We believe that we are much more than just playing rugby.
  • We believe that our greatest assets are our players, members, supporters and the community in which we exist.
  • We believe in developing peak performance at all levels of the game.
  • We believe in owning our performance.
